Decent thin NY style pizza slices (sausage and veggie). Ranch and salads are unremarkable. Good for a crowd or lunch fix, not to be sought after.

Worst service ever!!!! Placed an order at 1:31 am, it's 3:21 still hasn't arrived. Manager said it would have been here at 2:49. Horrible service. Said he would call me back with an explanation never did, however my card was charged the transaction. So now I have to wake up and dispute a charge and stayed up late for food, I could have gotten 2 hours ago somewhere else.

This place. We ordered delivery. After almost 2 hours, we got our food. If i can call it that. The driver must have been in a high speed car chase because our pizza came with the toppings and cheese only on one half. It was a gross mess. Everything was cold and severely messed up. I rarely call to complain about anything! I was told there was nothing they could do since they were getting ready to close in a bit. Ummm. Ok. Sure. But, we ordered our food a long time before getting ready to close in a bit. I expressed my disappointment and outrage of the lack of customer service. Not ok. After a bit, the guy calls back and offers a coupon. Thanks. But i dont want your food or to give you money. As much as I love local business, I will do papa johns over them.

Very ghetto. I am disappointed that I wasted $85 bucks here. Server was dressed like in tights looking a mess. Pizza had hardly no sauce on it. Fries were overcooked. The cooks came outside smoking then grabbed my pizza from server to help her deliver. I will be calling health dept. Never again!

The pizza was okay....There is nothing special about this place just that it is open late so that's a plus but the pizza needs help especially if you pay $17 for a pizza

Worst service ever! Ordered delivery tonight, after an hour, no pizza. I called and they say they have the order, but it was never processed! They say they can have it in another 45 minutes! Are you kidding me! It's already 1:30 in the morning, I'll pass on your crappy service!

We ordered delivery while staying at a local hotel. They even deliver bottles of wine at a great price, which is perfect after a long road trip. Originally, the delivery guy brought the wrong wine. He went out and tried again, still wrong. He said the wine I wanted was not available, even after I told him it was listed on their delivery menu. Trying a third time, the delivery guy actually went to a local wine store and bought the exact bottle I wanted, just to make sure his customer was happy. That is pretty impressive for a pizza delivery, right?? As for the food-toasted ravs were awesome. Grilled chicken salad was surprisingly flavorful and delicious, especially with all the shredded mozzarella on top. Light Italian dressing was the perfect compliment for the salad. Mostaccioli was average. Still, I would definitely order from Maurizio's again.

Waited at least 5 minutes after sitting down at the bar before I had to interrupt the bar tender to get me a drink. Then I ordered the baked lasagna, which is the only thing which earned them 2 stars. After finishing not only my first beer and the meal, I waited at least 15 minutes with empty plates and empty beer bottle pushed in front of me before I was asked if I needed anything else. Everyone around me was asked if they wanted another round. Unfortunately, it doesn't end there. My next beer was poured into a disgusting, slimy mug which I found out on my first sip putting my lips in the white goo. Prices are pretty high too. $20 for a bucket of domestic beer! I'll pass next time.

What a pleasant surprise! We stayed in a downtown hotel and between the rain and being exhausted we didn't want to go out for dinner. I saw thin crust pizza on the menu and was intrigued, so we got a thin crust (comes in 16" only) and got ham, sausage, green pepper and mushrooms as our toppings. We also got the toasted ravioli appetizer. We were definitely happy when we opened the box to find a generously sized pizza with plenty of toppings but not enough to make eating it impossible, and cut into squares which also made it easier to eat. The crust had great flavor and was nice and crisp on the bottom. The sausage had a homemade taste, and the whole pizza was just GOOD. The toasted ravioli was fine but did not look likely to be homemade. We would recommend this restaurant!

At my old job, my boss bought us all Maurizio's pizza one day, after scoring a huge contract with the boss. This was back when the location was still under construction. At any rate, I can honestly say it was one of the best pizzas I've ever had. Not in the sense that all the toppings *I* would have picked were on it, but rather, being what it was (I think I had sausage and mushrooms), this pizza was the booommmmbbbbb. I haven't been to their location on-site, and also haven't given them any more patronage just 'cuz I'm not in the mood for pizza too often, but still, this was one of the best pizzas I've ever had! Two thumbs up.

I've ordered delivery from here twice now since moving downtown and it's by far my favorite pizza place in the area. Prices are reasonable and you can order pasta, desserts, and liquor. It's perfect for us city dwellers. They came pretty quickly and customer service on the phone was great.

Bar til 3:30 am. The great thing about this restaurant is the buffet and the hours. There is a cheap buffet filled with middle of the road pizza, chicken wings, salad, and assorted other items. The dining area is large with plenty of televisions to keep people happy. The other side of the restaurant is the bar area. The bar is simple and exactly what you need after being bailed out of the St. Louis Justice Center (Located next door) for you latest DWI. There is a parking garage attached to the building and plenty of police to go around. A solid spot for downtown lunching and a quality stop for late night boozing.

The star goes to Al only. I'm here for a friend's birthday and there's no bartender. It's now 5:23 and we're crazy enough to have been here since 4:20. No help whatsoever. Will not return!!!

I don't have any complaints about the food. We ordered 3 drinks, toasted ravioli & a large pepperoni & sausage pizza. It's the service that will keep us from going back. We walked in & stood at the desk waiting to be seated while the man behind the desk was talking to a co-worker. When he finally acknowledged us he told us to sit wherever & come up & order with him. If we hadn't observed another patron going to get his own drink we would still be waiting for them. When our pizza was brought out the same guy at the desk said "you can get plates over there" & pointed. The one other occupied table in the entire restaurant had their plates brought to them with their pizza. There are too many great pizza places in St. Louis that appreciate their customers for us to go back to this so-so one.

We placed and late night order and waited 2 hours with several other people. Apparently they got the order but screwed it up. They offered to remake it but said it would take at least an hour. So now we stayed up for an extra two hours and are going to bed hungry. They didn't even offer to fast track our order when they were the ones to screw it up. Will not order from here again even though they're the only place that's open.

They deliver. Moto: We deliver smokes, booze and condoms. It's a cool place. 25 and up? Ok... Probably trying to avoid drunk bafoons from the Cardinals games. Get a pizza. Decent, especially after a few brews and a few rounds in bed.

  • Spencer G.

They are terrible. Jay, the manager might be the worst customer service Rep ever. After being promised pizza in 35 minutes, after 2.5 hours later we were told our order was canceled. Don't order their food. We will never try again.

  • Ken R.

Very, very late and the order was wrong. They sent another pizza that was supposed to be here in a half hour and that didn't happen either

If it was possible to rate them any lower I would have done it. Over priced food and intolerable service will make this my number one location for "don't do's" when I'm back home in St. Louis. Food didn't make it out at the same time. They charged us for Ranch and Hot Sauce, which is fine, but took 10 minutes to even get it out to our table afterwards. My pizza was supposedly fresh out the oven but some how magically mad it to the table at room temperature. For what we paid this has been one of the worst dining experiences in my life. You're better off going to Whit Castles.

After a night of heavy partying was looking for a place to eat late. Not being from stl we asked people on the street where to go. Everyone said maurizios. The place was pretty good and had a pretty nice menu. We got pizza and it was good. But even in my drunkess it didn't stand out. Something tells me this is a drunk foot you go to but don't step into during the day but I could be wrong!

This is my first review so please do not read me wrong. Exactly what you would expect from a place downtown that delivers booze AND food at 3am. The pizza is great junk food pizza. Greasy but a really great crust. Canned mushrooms which I actually didn't mind. Sub par dressing, good but not Something to write home about. Bland French fries with amazing cheese sauce. Great cheese sticks with yummy marinara! I wouldn't expect the world but this place is great. They deliver and it's always a hit!!!!!!!!

  • Andre C.

Only plan on ordering if delivery if you are cool with waiting an hour and a half for your food. Once the food arrives, make sure you're ready to be greeted by a ride driver that just got done getting high (as the smell is overwhelming) who insists on just taking the cold food that he planned on delivering with no apologies. The manager is even worse with his "customer service" as he finds it imperative to defend his less than stellar employees instead of actually compensating a customer for a legitimate problem. Quite a shame too, as the food here is actually good, but me, and the rest of the patrons at this bar, see no reason to ever order from this establishment, and I will definitely spread the word.

I want to preface this review by saying that we came in late 1 a.m. on a monday. BUT we just finished our law school exams and there were several people in the restaurant. The waiter was very rude. He asked why we were in so late and mentioned that we shouldve been home. I've worked in the restaurant industry, but he was very disrespectful. The pizza wasn't anything to write home about. After having a few drinks, it was pretty good. The toasted ravs were below average.

Price charged at register was higher than what was posted on wall board menu. When asking the cashier he just mumbled and pointed to some fine print on a paper menu and said prices can change. Food quality was lackluster, salad bar was just a Noel of lettuce and cheese. This place was way better at its previous location. We won't be back.

Ordered online. They use a service called EatStreet. After an hour and twenty minutes (on a simple three item order) I called to ask about the order's progress. After the first call was left on hold for several minutes with no indication that it was going to be picked up , I got cut off so I called back. When they discovered I got a confirmation email they actually said "Oh...you used EatStreet? Yeah, we didn't get anything from them. That's why it's usually better to call us." Had I known I would have...but it begs the question: Why use a service that you seem to be aware has some pretty serious flaws in the first place? The second star is because on a previous trip I had somewhat decent food here. That, plus they're open somewhat later than most delivery places. However, useless customer interface like this pretty much guarantees not only won't I ever dine there again, I will see to it none of my friends do either. There are plenty of choices in this market and I have gotten better treatment from all of them.

After paying the $25 min for delivery, I received $12 of food. No utensils. Cold rubbery pasta and cheese. I called to have my food delivered and they returned with yet another portion of my order. The attendant on the phone could careless. I placed my order at 4am. The store called at 7am but I was asleep and they didn't leave a message. I felt robbed. I'll never give another $10 tip again.

Good stuff. It's good to find a place in STL that doesn't use provel or cracker-thin crust. Not the most amazing ny-style I've ever had but still very good. They deliver a wide menu (see for yourself online) and other non-food items (read the other reviews). I'd order again for sure.

The pizza was a god send on a night when no other place was opened. The staff are a little seedy but seemed friendly enough. The pizza was tasty, like a typical take out pizza should be.

Complete letdown. During Jury Duty lunch break yesterday, I went to Maurizio's in the mood for a burger. Hadn't been there since they relocated, which was many years ago. Perused the menu on the wall, found my burger, nosed around at the buffet to get a feel for it, then returned to the host/hostess/cashier counter to be seated, since there were no signs instructing first-timers about the rules. While I waited I noticed the gentleman on the phone and the one person in front of me who I think was picking up a to go order. Eye contact but no index finger to indicate "be with you in a moment". Nothing. Two other employees came out of the kitchen, one stood behind dude on the phone, the other chatting it up with the other employee who was camped out, sitting on a chair in front of the counter, who may or may not have but should have noticed the path I had taken since I walked in since I had passed him several times already. Not once did anyone acknowledge my presence, offer to seat me, ask me if I'd been helped. NOTHING! I was completely ignored. One of the first rules in the restaurant business is to acknowledge your guests as soon as they walk in the door. They failed miserably. I walked out, vowing never to return. Walked to The Docket instead and had a decent burger.

This place makes me very sad. I'm a server at Steak n Shake, so after a long shift with my co-workers one night, I convinced them to venture into the scary city and try out the old Maurizios on Olive. They hated how it looked, hated the service, and were afraid of the other customers. When the food came though, especially those wings, they forgot all about those trivial concerns. We made it a ritual, any time we were in the city we would go to Maurizios. We grew to love the awkward and oversized velvet couches, the occasional bouncer outside with a gun. We felt like we were super hardcore going here and we were proud of ourselves that we were brave enough to go after that delicous pizza. We knew the staff by name. All that changed when they moved. We were almost brought to tears to see the inside all torn up with a cardboard box propped up in the window with a new address scribbled on it. As sad as that was, it wasn't the worst. When we got to the new location we could barely get in. The new policy was that no one after 10 was allowed in that wasn't over 30. What?!!?!?!? I will be thirty in 8 years! This was my late night place! I am a night owl and places like this are invaluable to me! I turned on so many people to it. How could they do this? I don't think one should look forward to any birthdays after they turn 21. That's just the way it should be. After we talked our way in we were horrified to see the new interior. It was waaaaay too nice. The ambiance was gone. Although I don't really know how to rate this place, I guess I will settle on two stars. I start out at five because I loved this place, then I'm going down to 2 because they broke my heart. Please change your policy! You should maybe make exceptions to the rule for people working in the service industry that really appreciate a full kitchen open so late. It wouldn't be unprecedented and you would make my year.

Keep in mind that I've only eaten Maurizio's when I've been three sheets to the wind, so my review shouldn't be taken too terribly seriously. Late night Maurizio's offers an all-you-can-eat pizza/wing bar that sounds good at the time, but will leave you regretting your decision the next day. But I'd much rather wake up with orange fingers and heartburn than an empty tummy and "spinny head" any day. From what I recall, the pizza is OK. And the wings require a hefty pile of ranch dressing, but they'll do at 3 a.m. :) If you live or hang out downtown, you have to try Maurizio's at least once. It's just something you have to do. 'Nuff said!

The pizza we had was pretty good, but my parents ordered pasta and it came out cold. When they sent it back, the guy said, "this is cold?" I mean, it wasnt literally cold, but pasta is supposed to come out hot. The service is absolutely horrible. It was my first time here and I did not know it was a self serve restaurant. Silly me, I asked for a plate and I was rudely informed that "this is a self service restaurant, if you couldn't tell. " after I forming him that I'm not from around here and that it was my first time, the guy snapped at me as said that this place is a nationwide chain. I've never heard of it and the website only had this downtown St. Louis location listed. The toppings on my pizzas got mixed up, and when we told the guy that brought out our pizzas, he said "no it said pepperoni" instead of asking the girl that took our order to see what the mistake was. Turns out she made a mistake entering our order in. The guy seemed to have a chip on his shoulder and I had to ask him to please stop being rude.

If you are staying in a hotel where room service stops around midnight, you only have a few choices, and Maurizio's serves a limited menu for delivery in about 30-45 minutes for you. Italian sausage sandwich + jalapeno poppers FTW.

  • Zac F.

Hey, where else are you gonna get delivery in downtown STL past midnight on a Tuesday? Prices are fair, delivery service was great. I got a veggie lover's salad (or something like that) which was decent, but I was actually pleasantly surprised by the pizza. I'm a new york style pizza guy which is somewhat of a rarity here, and the pie wasn't half bad. 4/5 would order again.

Gone are so many of the old elements that it's a small wonder that they call this place Maurizio's still. Not that the place didn't have a well-known infamy among Downtown lunch regulars for its aged-to-dinginess environment (...with an all-you-can-eat buffet): it did. The condom and liquor offerings that could be delivered alongside the pizzas wasn't a coincidence, or at least not a conscious one. Dives like the old Maurizio's existed to satisfy base needs, and did. Don't compare the old to the new though. (Yes: you can still get pizza, and liquor, here). Where the Olive location was dingy, this new spot is wonderfully clean (even the bathrooms). Everything seems new, from the pint glasses that replaced the plastic soda cups to the simple ceramic plates that took the place of the chipped and worn plastic ones. The items on the buffet are familiar (pizza, a pasta dish or two, fries, garlic bread, salad, Honey BBQ and hot wings, some random dish...), but the serving area is longer and partitioned from diners by a low wall now, creating somewhat of a flow. While not aggressively so, it looks like some thought went into giving the space a little bit of style and there are some nice touches in the stone and tile finishes. The main room has a high ceiling, booths have been replaced by a series of communal tables for the most part and at least four large flat screens run ESPN and Headline News during the lunch hour. There's even a fairly-large (for Downtown) patio/sidewalk dining area on Clark! The only thing that I don't agree with in the new setup and decor? The over-sized adventure sports pictures. The images themselves are nice enough, but come off as out of place. While the dining experience has been stepped up impressively, a few concerns have cropped up too. The first? The buffet runs out of pizza sometimes. It's great that when there's one available, it's fresh (and the pizza here, especially the hand-tossed style, is really quite good if you like NY-inspired pies)... but on a couple of occasions, I noticed the buffet's pizza had been completely overtaken and it took a few minutes to bake up a replacement pie. Given that lunch is short, you simply expect that there will always be slices available. The second? On the surface, $10 isn't a bad price for an all-you-can-eat lunch and drink, but the odds are that you're really over-paying. The regular menu is offered during lunch and dinner, but it's not the dominant eat-in option. (Note: the price was raised pre-move; I just mention it here as a general "know what you're getting into"). The third? Parking isn't validated at the Justice Center lot and is not as readily available as on Olive. Overall, the new location's a lot more pleasant to visit and a reasonable option in a part of Downtown that hadn't offered up much choice before this.

No. Went to the late night buffet. I looked at their menu online and thought wow I bet they have pizza, pastas, desserts. But alas, I thought wrong. Cold wings and cut up chicken strips, two kinds of pizza, salad with two dressings, no cheese, no toppings...and I think breadsticks. That's all. For $9.00 No thank you. It was cold, gross, ick. Ordered food from them to be delivered once and they forgot my pizza so that was fun.

Hmmmm was the pizza really that good? or was I just glad not to be sitting in jury selection anymore? I'm gonna give them credit and say that the pizza was actually pretty good. However the restaraunt itself was filthy and the cups greasy so I went with a to go cup instead. It was $10 bucks for a lunch buffet which is a rip because who goes downtown and eats $10 worth of pizza for lunch anyway? If I lived downtown I think I'd order carryout from here but I doubt I'll ever eat there again. Bathroom was nasty, even for a men's room.

    (2)
  • Andrew W.

I love Maurizios. The buffet is great to pop in for a few slices, and they are quick with a to go pie. The "no guns" sign on the door and seedy looking block of Olive St combined with the tattooed and smoking staff and clientele might scare you off. Don't be! Everyone is super friendly and the pizza is on par with NYC.

I have ordered delivery from here for the past 8 months without a problem. The pizza was never great but it served its purpose. Tonight I ordered a pizza only to be told that I am not in delivery range. Never had a problem before but now all of the sudden I'm out of range. I don't get it? Oh well, I guess they don't want business.

In the concierge section of my hotel there was a pamphlet for Maurizio's Pizza. After looking at reviews I was not quite sure if I wanted to order from them but I found out that they deliver alcoholic beverages and cigarettes. Since I wanted both of those plus a snack I gave them a call and placed an order. The ordering itself was a small battle...the only thing that was easy was my order for a 10 inch pepperoni pizza. The rest of the order was hard...the wines listed on their menu weren't available and half the time they didn't even understand what I was asking for. I was put on hold numerous times and after a long 10 minutes I got my order in. The pizza arrived fairly quickly and everything was included in my order. The pizza was average and kind of greasy. Nothing really spectacular. To be honest I only up'd the star quotient since they delivered quickly and they sent me wine and cigs at a reasonable price. Really is a 2.5 star review but if you want quick delivery at reasonable prices then give them a buzz.

greasy goodness. The portions are large. the interior is so worn out and dirty you should really take any food you order here, to-go or have it delivered. On the positive, they deliver. Just enjoy the food and don't think about the condition of the kitchen based on the dining room. Also one of the few survivors of the "new downtown".

Went there about 6 on a weekday to order carry out went to the bar and waited....and waited. Only 1 other customer there bartender did not acknowledge me or come over....just doing his own thing. I left. absoulutely no traffic in the place...my general policy is this means issues with service or food.

Good wings and pizza. Several drink options and decent specials. Nothing exceptional really, but both were good. You just can't beat the convenience for hanging out before a Blues game (or anything else at Scottrade)! Park upstairs, grab some good pizza and wings, and head to the game! And it's really much bigger than it seems from the outside.

Still the best ok-pizza to be had downtown. Nice new digs, so they gotta keep up appearances for a while. In a month or two it'll be old boots and hot pockets. Which is as it should be.

Cold chicken wing were disappointing. I think they were pre cooked and ran through some hot sauce. They were cold when you bit into them. The pizza was soggy and had very little flavor. We ordered the deluxe pizza. This may be my first and last visit here!

Stayed at the Marriott, and the desk clerk recommended this place for delivery. Do this: order a pizza with chicken, bacon, and onion. Amazing! Can't wait to visit STL again so I can have it again!

If you're after the "Great Pizza Pig Out," then Maurizio's is for you. If you're after an amazing atmosphere and plush surroundings, look elsewhere. Maurizio's makes great pizza, plain and simple. Before the advent of the independent gourmet pizza house (think Pi), Maurizio's was listed as one of the Top 100 Independent Pizza Restaurants in the US for a dozen consecutive years. (I don't remember if it was 11 or 12 years, but over a decade on the list is amazing!) For those who need to fill the bottomless pit, Maurizio's buffet represents the best pizza buffet in the St. Louis region. Skip the salad. The pasta's okay. The wings are basic. But the pizza is wonderful. The New York style pie is perfectly prepared and thin crust varieties are superior to most St. Louis pies. If you order pizza for eat-in, carryout or delivery, the XL here is a 20" monster. But one word to the wise: For a true New York pizza experience, ask Maurizio's to fix your pizza "well done" so the center is crispy. If not, Maurizio's pizza can be a bit limp -- and limp is bad in pizza and just about everything else in life. Enough said. If you do get a pizza that's slightly undercooked, throw it in your oven for 10-15 minutes at about 500 degrees and your pie will be perfect. Just watch the oven closely so you don't burn your pizza. Eating mistakes are fun, but it's better to have a perfect pie rather than charred edges. Enjoy!!!!!!!

Best thing for a during work hangover is a Maurizio's Stromboli. The grease, the cheese, the meat sauce...it is like heaven in a little box if you are trying to stay alive during the work day. To bad it is just getting more expensive each time I order it. Their buffet is so-so and a little expensive for the offerings. The place is definitely a dive of a restaurant. The TVs are pretty roughed up as well so I doubt I would ever come here to watch a sporting event when so many other options are so close by. Decent for take out or lunch when you are hungover but that is about all I would go here for.

OK, it was 2am after a rock concert and we were starving...but I swear this was the best damn pizza ever!!! Seriously..it was just damn good and pipping hot considering we had to go down to the hotel lobby to get it. Good quality garlic...nice amount of extra cheese. The fried raviolis were o-k. The BBQ wings were hit and miss. Some were overdone and some were nice and tender. The ranch dip was really really good. Pizza was just as tasty cold later that morning!

Do not waste your time. They advertize a late night buffet and when we get there they tell us they dont offer it anymore. We order pizza, wings, mozzarella sticks and garlic bread. There were only 2 tables other than ours and it took almost an hour to get our food. The garlic bread was cold and chewy. The mozzarella sticks were cold. The wings were okay. The pizza was terrible. It was soggy and I dont know if the sausage was bad or if it is just such a cheap low quality sausage that it tastes terrible. I will without a doubt not go back.

Utterly trashy joint, food is not good, nor is the service any good. Simply good for large groups and buying condoms while trading your gold next door at the liqour store.

I used to work here. They use the cheapest ingredients possible. Canned mushrooms? Really? And precooked noodles and wings? And make sure your chicken is actually cooked. Also the hamburgers come frozen. The worst part for me was the federal labor bureau had to get involved tk enforce minimum wage and overtime laws. They hire convicts for tax breaks and make them work 70-90 hours for $400 a week. I got a four figure check for backpay. With fhat kind of attitude to employees you can guess how the quality of food is. Terrible pizza. Try deweys its the same price but uses organic veggies free range chicken hormone free beef and best of all mozzerella reslly from italy. Maurisios uses "cheese product"

It's not so bad after a night of drinking and now thinking if you don't eat you might die! We lived at Washington and 10th Merchandise Mart, so literally around the corner. We would always order wing fried "hard", sauce on the side and a chicken, black olive and jalapeno pizza. When the pizza shows up we'd already have the oven on and waiting -- 500 degrees. Box and all right into the oven, really! about 10-12 min later the pizza is the best. But prior to a little doctoring up at home, it's really not all that.

Yikes. I walked here for lunch recently while I was downtown doing jury duty. First of all, you walk in and order at the counter. Not very handy when you can barely see the menu on the wall off to your right. My fellow juror and I stepped out of line to see the menu- and slipped back in. She ordered spaghetti. I ordered the lunch buffet. I had to ask the cashier where to get the cups for the buffet- they were almost entirely behind the buffet counter/soda machine. How in the world would I have known that? Then couldn't find a lunch tray. A customer grumpily helped me find them, yet again located to the side/behind the buffet counter. I'm sorry but how would I have known? I got a salad and pizza. The salad consisted of sad iceberg lettuce. I think there were 3 choices of toppings (baby carrots, tomatoes, and who knows what) and 2-3 choices of dressings. There were definitely more options for the pizzas. I actually liked the pizza okay. It wasn't very warm, but hey that's a buffet for ya. I also got some pasta shells with white sauce. Those were rather good. Runny but good. My fellow juror seemed satisfied enough with her spaghetti. I still can't get over the pathetic iceberg lettuce bar... definitely need to go back to avoiding buffets... and probably this place. Unless I'm desperate. No offense.

My husband and I were craving pizza. We had just spent the day unpacking the last of our boxes and running errands and we were famished! I turned to my helpful friend, Yelp.com for a pizza place that not only serves up thin crust pizza, but delivers as well! That's when we came across Maurizios. I knew little about this place, other than that they also deliver cigarettes, liquor and condoms, according to a recent review. Seeing that I really wasn't interested in any of those aforementioned, I should have gone with another pizza place. That was my gut instinct and I should have stuck to it. But, every place deserves a chance and it was with that atitude that we decided to go ahead and order. Our 16" pepperoni and onion pizza, with a side order of hot wings came in about 30 minutes. Pretty efficient, I thought. Fast service is always appreciated. What wasn't appreciated though, was the undercooked- in- some- areas, overcooked- in- other, pizza dough. It was chewy in the center and burnt on the outsides. Not completely appetizing. I continued to eat it, hoping that it would get better, but it just didn't. Too bad. The wings on the other hand, were pretty good. Just enough spice, just enough tang. Some were meaty, some were not. That's okay, as long as the flavor is there and they were. Not much to complain about their wings. Sorry, Maurizios. Maybe it was just a bad night..? For $32.00 (pizza, wings, $2 surcharge for delivery and an additional $4.00 tip), we may just have to try something else next time.

Good wings and cesar salad. Late night delivery to my hotel. only problem was that they were not allowed to deliver right to my room, supposedly the hotel doesn't allow it.

NY style just means no cracker crust. The crust is soggy and pale. The sauce is far too sweet.

Just hit this place up tonight while looking for some late-night takeout. It was a nice surprise to see that my pasta came with a side salad and a roll, and even better when I discovered that they had thrown a good amount of mozzarella onto the salad. Pasta was better than expected. If I lived around here there's a good chance I'd go back. Also seems like it would be a great place to go with a group; they have a great selection at the bar

I needed a stop for a pregame drink and Jack Patrick's was closed. So we stopped into Maurizio's. The place was barren... it was kind of creepy. But I didn't really care. I would be in and out in 20 minutes. The beer was cold, the prices were fair, and service was fine.

I've only done delivery and I've been happy. Pizza is Provel-free and in terms of quality, ranks way above the chains but slightly below "gourmet" places. In terms of speed for delivery, every time I've ordered from them, it's been 45 minutes tops. Generally in the 35-40 minute range.

I loved this place! the 20 inch pizza is amazing!! The hot wings are HOT!! I wish they had a mild sauce but, over all I will go back!!

Pasta was good but mozzarella sticks were still half frozen! Got home and threw them in the microwave just to make it edible. Service incredibly slow, especially for a take out order. Took almost an hour for the food to come out. Probably 5 people in the entire establishment that were customers. Not impressed, especially for a slow night. Luckily, I was only in town for a conference. I won't be dining here again.

Best downtown pizza delivery...period. New York style crust and cuts. Super fast and friendly delivery. Pepperoni and mushroom...yum.

The pizza is not too bad for St Louis (sorry, I'm a Chicagoian and I'm used to the best) but I order from Maurizio's every time I'm in town mainly for the accompanying sin that can be purchased in addition to their food. If you can believe it, this restaurant delivers cigarettes, 24 packs,750ml bottles of liquor, and condoms. Surprisingly, the markup isn't as high what you'd expect for this type of novelty. After the last Cubs/Cardinals game I attended, I ordered bottle of Jack, a 6 pack of condoms, and breadsticks at 3am just so I could say that I ordered a bottle of Jack, a 6 pack of condoms and breadsticks at 3am. What can I say? I keep it classy.

Overall a very tasty pizza. Open late including holidays and offers delivery. Just note...website says fresh ingredients but they use canned mushrooms. Their NY style crust is plenty thin and made fresh so don't order thin crust unless you like pre-made frozen. And last, it's a bit of a dive and smells like cigarettes. But when you're traveling through town, stuck at the hotel Thanksgiving night and need pizza, you'll find this to be a pretty good one.

I frequent Maurizio's, generally because it is close to home when I've worked a long day and I''m lacking the energy to figure out something more exciting and creative. Let's break it down: Delivery: Every single time I've ordered for delivery, regardless of what it is I've ordered, they tell me 45 minutes. It is always a minimum of an hour before they show up - sometimes longer. Pro: The pizza is always hot, which is nice. Con: I'm generally starving to death by then, cranky and frustrated. In addition, if I keep it to pizza, the order is generally okay (I recommend the plain cheese pizza, it is surprisingly flavorful). However, when you start adding to your order, things get forgotten. Like the cookies. Like the chicken that was supposed to be in the alfredo pasta. Like...well, you get the point. Speaking of the pasta... ewwww. Just don't. Gritty sauce that tastes like it was a powder mixed with water and poured over mushy noodles - as well as the aforementioned missing chicken. Dining in: I have dined in Maurizio's only one time, and I will NEVER do so again. It looks dirty inside, for starters. Getting your pizza takes almost as long as ordering it for delivery does. But most annoying - they do not enforce the "No Smoking" area. They allowed smokers to eat in the "No Smoking" area while watching television. As a matter of fact, two of the smokers were EMPLOYEES who were taking breaks. If you smoke, enjoy yourself, I could care less. But stick to the designated areas of a restaurant as a courtesy to non-smokers. And merchants should enforce those rules for both patrons and thier employees. It smelled stale, the smoke bothered me and when I considered making a complaint, I watched the guy behind the cash register light up and smoke right there, waiting for the next customer. It seemed pointless, so I didn't waste my time. So if you want tasty delivery and aren't in a hurry, give them a call. I also suggest an order of thier frozen tirimisu dessert. You can eat it frozen or let it thaw for a more traditional treat - but either way, it tastes creamy and smooth without the overpowering liqueur flavor that tirimisu can often have.

Maurizio's Pizza and Pasta located right in the heart of downtown St. Louis is an awesome if anything pizza place. Located right behind Washington Avenue and within a short walking distance to Busch Stadium, Murina Pizza is great place to stop before or after a game and eat a nice slice of pizza pie. Each time that I have stopped by there to eat I have always been satisfied completely with what I have gotten. You can order by the slice or like any pizza place, order the whole thing. The nice thing about this place is that on their pizza they use real cheese and actual toppings. Nothing looks like it came out of some jumbo toppings bag from Cosco. The pizza at Maurizio's Pizza and Pasta is good. My friends and I always enjoy stopping by there before a Cardinals game and we always know what to expect.

It was pretty late and we were hungry for some food. I went to the lobby of the hotel and asked for a suggestion for a delivery place and she recommended this one. I went back upstairs to my room and we looked through the menu. I called and was telling the guy what we wanted and after every order he told me to wait and to see if they had enough of it. This started to shrug me pretty badly and made me think WTF as an establishment you should ALWAYS have everything in stock and not wait until everything is bone dry to reorder items. So one thing that we wanted was not in the menu so I said I'll give him a call back. We chose something else and I gave him a call back, I told him the order and again he said to wait a moment as to he had to see if they had it in stock. I was ready to hang up when he returned and said they had it. We ended up ordering (small pizza pie, cheese sticks & a chicken parm dinner). We began waiting and finally after 45 minutes (mind you he told me 20 minutes on the phone) he arrived with our food. The chicken parm was great even though he looked like a mess. The pizza was obviously rushed as the dough wasn't as hard as it should be. New Yorkers know pizza and this one could have been a lot better but it was fine. Would I recommend this place to anybody, I'm not quite sure. I'd wish I ordered from them another time and see how everything was. Overall, not that bad of an experience I imagine.

oh dear maurizios...you were so convenient. your delivery times were always comfortable, your food always hit the spot. we used to order from here at least twice a week. the salads are always fresh, pizza is seasoned right. the burgers were awesome. the fact that they delivered liquor and condoms were awesome too!! my only pet peeve with this place was their customer service. whoever picks up the phone to take orders needs to be replaced. it doesnt matter who picks up on the phone, they always take your order like they dont want to. well its over now! i have found your improvement/replacement!

I went here last Friday night, you know the night the Cardinals won the World Series? oof. Let me just say this: Dear drunk, partying stranger, I do *not* want to high five you. You're a stranger, and I don't like to touch strangers. And I *really* don't like strangers touching me. Also, don't get all pissed off because I don't high five you. I am not automatically an evil Tigers fan. I just don't like baseball. Oh my god, stop acting like I killed your grandmother, not everyone likes baseball. Please. Leave me alone. Thanks, Natalia Anyway, back to Maurizio's. They had this weird mixup going on where if you called, the people who answered the phone said things like, "Sure, come on by, we're still open" while the bouncer (!) was telling people they weren't taking walk-ins. We got the phone person on the phone with the bouncer, so they let us in, that was cool. The pizza was so nothing to write home about. Personally, I think we could have saved ourselves a lot of trouble by going to the nearest all-night grocery store, getting a decent-quality frozen pizza, and calling it a night. Though we had all been drinking, and I have no idea if there was a 24hr grocery in walking distance. This, friends, is why all people who like to drink should keep a selection of frozen pizzas and other drunk food in their freezer at all times. You never know when you're going to get hungry after last call. But I'm giving them 3 stars anyway, since they appear to be the only place in the whole area open until 4am, so that earns them at least an extra star.

I'm not sure if their late night buffet is still open, but I used to crush that bad boy in the early morning hours. Not much better than pizza dipped in unlimited amounts of runny ranch dressing.

I've only had the pizza delivered to my office in downtown so that's the only thing I can comment on. I'm not a fan of Chicago style, thick bread pizza. I much prefer traditional NY style pizza. That's what you can find at Maurizio's. The pizza is thinnish in its crust and the ingredients are fresh and delicious. You can fold it, NY style, or just eat it straight. There isn't too much tomato sauce (which I hate) and the veggie pie is great. My favorite delivery pizza joint in STL so far!

this should be 2 reviews: their lunch buffet is cheap and also cheap. you need to know what you're signing up for in order to not be disappointed. the pizza is quickly prepared with lame crust and sparse toppings. it's usually supplemented by equally weak cheese garlic bread, some sort of pasta, and chicken wings, oh and salad. in other words, it's what you'd expect for a $6 lunch buffet. they do have strawberry soda on tap, though. (3ish stars) the pizza they deliver is a fundamentally different (and quite tasty) story, and they're usually quite fast and friendly. the meat lover (or all meats, or whatever) is extremely worthy. (5ish stars)

The veggie pizza is great for lunch delivery, but the place itself is a bit dark and gritty (and I don't mean that in a charming way) and their grease dispenser is miscalibrated and working overtime.
